From Cate:
1. Favorite Field Hockey Memory? Why?
  • My favorite memory was at my first NIT Qualifiers at the TXP facility. It was my first season of indoor ever with team of hilarious girls I had met just recently. Our team needed to go into shootouts to qualify. I ended up missing my first shootout and got so upset I cried a little. The shootouts went into another round, and I had a chance to redeem myself. My coach, Anya, literally wiped away my tears and gave me a quick pep talk. I took my second shootout and scored to send us into our first NITs!

2. What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
  • It was when I visited Sewanee for the second time and it really felt special to me.

3. Why are you playing field hockey in college?
  • I literally couldn’t imagine not playing in college. Field Hockey has made me so many amazing friendships and memories, so I don’t want it to be over yet.

4. What have you done this summer to prepare?
  • Tons and tons of running, lifting weights, and of course hitting around with friends.

5. If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
  • Enjoy the work! Being excited about going to practice or playing in a game is the best feeling. Learn how to love the hard work.

6. Who was the most influential person in high school?
  • My coach, Madi. She made my team work hard, and we improved soooo much. The way she coaches really makes me want to play harder.

7. Favorite post practice/ game snack?
  • Cheezits

8. What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
  • Music!

9. What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
  • Honestly, seeing how much fun other players were having on Instagram at their colleges.

10. What was one of the toughest experiences?
  • Realizing how behind I was as a player. I started travel team at Pride years later than the girls I was playing with. It was tough trying to catch up.

11. Year you began playing field hockey? How?
  • I did Pride camps since 2014. Sela Provenzano invited me over for a private lesson in her garage, and I loved it. My mom put me in Fun with Field Hockey and Sunday League. I joined the travel team the winter of my freshman year.
From Coaches:
Favorite Cate Moment (old) / why?:
  • From Madi: My favorite memories with Cate will always be the times we spent on Sundays outside with our U19 team. Cate and Evie used to have me cracking up and always kept practice fun and light hearted. I have the funniest video of them singing the national anthem together with the flag in the background and it always makes me laugh.

Favorite Cate moment (new)/ why?
  • From Madi: My favorite new memory of Cate is her excitement to play right back on our 2024 indoor team. She is typically an attacking mid or forward for us so it was really random for her to want to play a back. Cate killed it and our team went on to qualify for National Indoor for the first time ever that season! She was a leader on that team and really worked hard that season to make sure we qualified!

Story we will forever tell about Cate:
  • From Madi: I will always tell stories of our U19 team traveling memories, whether it was the freezing cold NH qualifiers, our first Disney trip, whole food stops or all the times we spent in airports or vans finding parking at Winter Escape. Cate was on my first team as a coach at Pride so all of our mems are really special to me as they were firsts of many! I will also always tell how good of music taste she had :)

Favorite Cate recruiting moment/ why?
  • From Tina: Cate had one of the easiest recruiting processes. She went to one clinic, one visit, one offer in the same weekend and was done. It is rare for it to be that easy, but it was.

First memory of Cate / why?
  • From Madi: My first memory of Cate is from my first Disney tournament. I was a brand new coach at Pride and literally had only been coaching the team for less than a month. Our U19 team at Disney had so much fun that year and went on to win Bronze and go to 3 shootouts!!! It was insane but so awesome to see that team medal and then go on the next year to win Gold!! So proud of the work they put in!
