Favorite Field Hockey Memory? Why?
  • I have a couple, Disney will always be one of my favorites. Disney in 2018 when I got pulled into Tina’s room to talk about Coaches who were their watching me was a thrilling and anxious situation but knowing what I had been doing was paying off was very rewarding. Disney 2022 when our team won the gold! This Disney holds a very special place in my heart with being my last and leaving everything out there. All the dancing and team activities that contributed to making all the hard work that was displayed pay off was very fun and fulfilling. The feeling of running after Emily with the whole team after we had won the championship game in shootouts is something I will always cherish and seek more of. Also one of my favorites, Virginia Beach prep tournament before festival when all of our sticks got lost and we had to play with extra ones found on site.We scored almost seven goals just from playing two touch hockey and swapping sticks at subbing. It felt like an entirely different game and was definitely a changing point for our team. I could talk about any experience of my field hockey career and call it my favorite I have loved playing the game and spending time off the field with teammates and I can’t wait to continue that with my new team in the fall.

What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
  • I was most excited during my recruiting experience when I came home from Camp Ozark at the end of the summer and I found out that I was starting to get offers to play in college. My mom had a big spreadsheet for my list of colleges and she had showed me a new column that formed while I was away and it wad titled offers. Seeing the interest people had definitely peaked my excitement.

Why are you playing field hockey in college?
  • I have been playing since I was in kindergarten and I have always had a love for the sport, I wouldn’t be myself without continuing to play in the future.

What have you been doing to prepare?
  • This summer I have been following my running and lifting packet that was provided to me, competed in Nexus National Championship, and NCC. Along with the packet provided to the team we have all been reading “The Way of the Champion” to prep our mindsets heading into the season in order to start off with a collective intent and goal.

If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
  • Put yourself out there. You get out of it what you put in and hard work can definitely get you to where you want to go. If something doesn’t go your way I believe everything happens for a reason and everyone finds where they are meant to be.

Who was the most influential person in high school?
  • Definitely my mom.

Favorite post practice/ game snack?
  • Pickles and Chocolate Milk

What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
  • I have loved listening to music and dancing before games to loosen up and keep my focused on having fun, I always play better when I am having fun.

What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
  • I have always been a student athlete and I have joy from playing field hockey so why not continue that. Being rooted within a team while also adjusting to a new location is a major bonus and I am so excited to be apart of such a close knit group and getting to compete at such a high level while still furthering my education.

What was one of the toughest experiences?
  • My first practice at the WC Eagles after being moved up to Jun’s group.

Year you began playing field hockey? How?
  • I started in 2008 on a rec team.

Favorite
Megan Moment (old) / why?:
  • I remember when Megan first showed up to Kinkaid for either a practice or tryout.  My immediate thought was - she was good and she would fit in very well :). The great thing about Megan was she was up for anything. She played in so many random games and so many random tournaments (like U16 JPOL at IU), and it didn't matter. She just loved to play.  Since she didn't play for a MS team, she would play in any game I gave her without complaint.

Favorite Megan moment (new)/ why?
  • Megan played exceptionally well this past winter and spring.  There were certain games where she was impossible to beat and stepped up playing some phenomenal hockey.  I'm not sure what changed, but I know I'm going to remember Megan leaving high school playing the best hockey we've seen her play.

Story we will forever tell about Megan:
  • Megan was one of the first players we worked with who transferred from a public middle school into a private high school directly. Many kids transfer into a private middle school, but few go into a high school from public middle. I was intrigued to see how she would do, and she crushed it.  Never did Megan look too tired from homework or staying up too late. She seemed to effortlessly transition from public school to private high school playing 2 school sports and traveling with us on multiple teams.
  • Also, Megan received her first college offer before she even started high school.  That was impressive.

Favorite
Megan recruiting moment/ why?
  • I remember getting the phone call from BU about Megan. It was early, but the coach had an unbelievable level of belief in Megan. About her potential, the type of player she was and how impactful she would be in college.  There was no doubt in her mind that this freshmen (Megan) would be an exceptional player for her in college.  That unwavering belief is exactly what ever recruit should want.  I'm excited to see what Megan can do for BU.

First memory of
Megan / why?
  • I remember when Megan's mom reached out to me when their family was moving to Houston. Our younger travel programs were still developing, but moving in a good direction.  She was coming from WC Eagles, so we really couldn't compete with that.  And Megan was looking for a strong training program to plug into.  Anyway, I remember thinking after chatting, I'm never going to see this girl and this probably won't work out.  Low and behold, we did! She came down for tryouts and played with us that Fall. Always the story of a random player moving to Houston who actually worked out.
