From Tina:
Favorite Hope Moment (old) / why?:
  • There are so many great old Hope moments. The one thing I'll always remember about Hope is how she celebrated her goals even as a young girl. She would score and then jump up and down, normally with one fist in the air, super excited that she scored. Could have been the hardest game we played or the easiest, and it didn't matter.  She celebrated every single goal she scored just like it was the first time she had ever scored.  I loved that passion and excited for the game.

Favorite Hope moment (new)/ why?
  • Hope had a phenomenal National Indoor Tournament this year. We had a series of injuries leading up to the tournament, so she had to play various positions unexpectedly.  It didn't matter. She showed great leadership and maturity during this tournament scoring 75% of our goals during the event and playing most of every game.
  • Also, was very proud of her from RCC's in 2022.  Just like the rest of the girls, there was a level of determination going into that event that we were going to come out on top.  She played extremely well during that event and we ended up winning and qualifying for NCC's.

Story we will forever tell about Hope:
  • I'll always tell the story about this little girl who had this dream of going to Carolina and she worked tirelessly day in and day out for years to accomplish that goal.  From the extra hitting on her own and countless hours she spent running and practicing her stick skills, Hope did everything she could to accomplish her goal.  Her effort epitomizes that hard work pays off.
  • Hope came to everything.  Over her 9 year career, she rarely missed a stick skill session, a hitting session, a gk session, a camp, an open play, a run club, a practice, a tournament, etc. Even when she was the best player at the event, Hope came to everything. Since field hockey is a quantitative sport, the players who touch the ball the most are normally the strongest players.  Well....

Favorite Hope recruiting moment/ why?
  • By far, the moment she called and told me she got an offer from UNC.  She was ecstatic. It was as if the little girl inside her was finally going to accomplish and achieve the thing she had been working years for.

First memory of Hope / why?
  • We have this one photo of Hope from when she first started. It's of her wearing her first Pride uniform when she was getting ready to go to her first tournament. I remember putting that shirt on her and actually thinking like I wrote on that insta post, "I hope I still have this instagram when she graduates".  She was so little and even then, you could see so much potential. She always loved the game and showed so much passion every time she played.
